Moving from Odoo to Dopave

What moves, how it moves, and how you prove nothing was lost.

Dopave connects to Odoo with a read-only API key and reads your customers, suppliers, contacts, products, stock, open invoices and bills, and opening balances into a staging area. Nothing is written until you have reviewed it. You then load it, compare Dopave's totals with Odoo's, and go live on a cut-off date. If something is wrong, the load can be undone and re-read.

The steps

  1. 1

    1. Pick a go-live date

Usually the first day of a month. Everything before it stays in Odoo as history; Dopave starts with the balances and open items on that date.

  2. 2

    2. Connect to Odoo

In Settings → Switch to Dopave, enter your Odoo address, database, user and an API key. Dopave only calls Odoo's read methods; the key is stored encrypted.

  3. 3

    3. Review what was read

Each kind of record appears as a sheet with suggested tidying (phone formats, dates) and in-file duplicates flagged. A dry run shows what would be created and updated.

  4. 4

    4. Load, then prove it ties

Load the sheets, type in Odoo's totals (receivables, payables, stock value, counts) beside Dopave's, and print the certificate once they match. The go-live page checks that customer and supplier balances tie to the books.

Questions

Can I read Odoo again after loading?

Yes. A re-read updates the records it already loaded instead of creating duplicates, so you can catch up on the last few days before go-live.

What if my data is not in Odoo but in Excel?

The same screen reads Excel workbooks — every sheet, recognised by its columns in English or Arabic — and there are sample files for each kind of record.
