Break-even sales are your fixed costs divided by the share of each sale left after its own variable cost. With fixed costs of 736,000 and variable costs at 65% of sales, each 100 sold leaves 35, so break-even is 736,000 ÷ 0.35, about 2.1 million. Everything sold above that is profit.

Fixed or variable?

Fixed costs stay when sales fall: rent, salaries, loan interest. Variable costs move with each sale: the goods themselves, delivery, sales commission. Some costs are a mix, so make a sensible split and ask your accountant if unsure.
