In short

The best accounting software in Egypt depends on your business. For B2B e-invoicing with stock, compare Daftra, Odoo, Edara and Dopave. For services, Wafeq and Zoho Books are strong. Shops and cafés must first confirm ETA e-receipt support, which none of the seven lists on its product pages as of October 2026.

The short version

There is no single best accounting software for every Egyptian business. A café needs a POS that can issue ETA e-receipts. A distributor needs stock control and B2B e-invoices. A consultancy needs clean invoicing and project billing. Below we compare seven options Egyptian SMBs actually use, with prices as each vendor published them when we checked in October 2026.

Prices checked October 2026. Vendors change prices often, and some show different prices by country, so confirm on the vendor page before you buy. We did not convert USD prices to EGP because the rate moves.

How we compared

We looked at the official pricing, product and documentation pages of each vendor, plus the Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) pages on e-invoicing and e-receipts. For each product we recorded:

  • the lowest published price and its currency
  • whether a free plan or free trial exists
  • what the vendor says about ETA e-invoices and e-receipts
  • Arabic interface, cloud or desktop, and modules beyond accounting

Where a vendor does not mention something, we write "not listed on the vendor's public pages as of October 2026". That does not mean the feature is missing; it means you should ask for a demo. We did not include products whose official site we could not verify, such as several desktop programs widely taught in Egyptian accounting courses.

The options, one by one

Dopave

Dopave is a cloud ERP built Arabic-first for Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf. The pricing page lists a Free plan at 0 EGP for up to 3 users and a 14-day trial with no card. Pricing is modular: the Accounting module is listed at 790 EGP per month, Inventory at 790, Point of Sale at 590 and HR at 400, so you pay only for what you switch on. Beyond accounting it covers CRM, inventory and purchasing, POS, online store, manufacturing, HR and payroll, helpdesk, projects and an AI copilot, with Paymob and Fawry payments in EGP.

On e-invoicing, Dopave's Egypt page says it builds ETA-format invoices, credit and debit notes and submits them through the e-invoicing integrator you connect, which holds your signing certificate. It states plainly that B2C e-receipts are "not yet" supported. Dopave does not claim ETA accreditation.

Best for: B2B companies that want accounting, stock, CRM and HR in one Arabic system and prefer paying per module.

Daftra

Daftra is one of the best-known Arabic cloud accounting systems in Egypt. Its plans page, viewed from Egypt, shows prices in EGP: Basic at 733 EGP per month (489.50 EGP per month billed yearly, 5,874 EGP a year), Advanced at 1,225 EGP and Comprehensive at 2,448 EGP per month. All plans include a 14-day trial with no card. Daftra's Egyptian e-invoice page says it is integrated with the ETA system, supports item coding and the electronic seal, and charges no extra fee for the connection.

Genuine strengths: a wide module list (POS with an offline desktop app, inventory, HR and payroll, manufacturing, rentals), sector templates and Arabic support. See our Daftra comparison for a side-by-side view.

Best for: shops and trading businesses that want a mature Arabic system with offline POS.

Odoo

Odoo is a global open-core ERP sold in Egypt directly and through local partners. Its pricing page, viewed from Egypt, shows USD: Standard from US$7.25 per user per month billed yearly (a first-year discount on a US$8.95 list price), Custom from US$13.40, and a One App Free plan that gives one app to unlimited users. Odoo's Egypt localization states compliance with ETA e-invoicing; it requires a USB signing key per signer and a local Odoo IoT proxy. Odoo's documentation covers right-to-left languages such as Arabic.

Genuine strengths: the deepest module catalogue here (manufacturing, eCommerce, HR, POS and more) and a large partner network. Partner implementation fees are extra. More in our Odoo comparison.

Best for: growing companies, especially manufacturers, with budget for a partner.

Zoho Books

Zoho Books is a polished cloud accounting product. Its free plan is available while annual revenue stays under US$50,000 and allows 1 user plus 1 accountant and up to 1,000 invoices a year. Standard costs US$12 per organisation per month, or US$10 billed yearly, with a 14-day trial. An Egypt-specific edition, ETA e-invoicing and an Arabic interface are not listed on the vendor's public pages as of October 2026.

Best for: small service firms and freelancers billing foreign clients who do not yet need ETA submission.

Wafeq

Wafeq is a regional accounting platform with an Egypt edition priced in EGP. Its pricing page lists Starter at 966 EGP per month (805 EGP billed yearly, invoicing only), Plus at 1,386 EGP and Premium at 2,490 EGP, with a 14-day trial and no card. The Egypt site mentions inventory, payroll and more than 40 financial reports. An Egypt e-invoicing article on Wafeq's site says it sends invoices to the competent authorities automatically; a dedicated ETA product page is not listed, so ask for a demo of ETA submission.

Best for: accountants and firms that want clean accounting and payroll with EGP pricing.

Edara

Edara is an Arabic cloud system for accounting, warehouses, manufacturing, sales, purchasing and POS. Its pricing page is in USD: Basic at US$5 per user plus a US$29 monthly base fee billed yearly, Professional at US$9 plus US$49, and Ultimate at US$12 plus US$79. Egypt e-invoice integration is listed in the Ultimate plan, and POS is a paid add-on. The interface is Arabic and English. A free trial is not mentioned; the site offers a demo.

Genuine strengths: solid inventory features (valuation methods, serial numbers, reorder alerts) and integrations with Shopify, WooCommerce, Salla and Jumia.

Best for: distributors and e-commerce sellers with serious stock.

ERPNext

ERPNext is open-source (GPL-3.0). Self-hosting is free, and Frappe Cloud starts at US$5 per month with a 14-day trial. ETA e-invoicing and Arabic are not listed on the vendor's pricing page; Egyptian implementers offer connectors, so check who will maintain yours.

Best for: companies with in-house technical staff who want full control.

Which one for which business

  • Shop or café: your first question is the ETA e-receipt, which is a separate system from B2B e-invoicing and requires registering POS devices. Check whether you are obligated on the ETA inquiry page, then ask each vendor to demonstrate a live e-receipt. None of the seven lists e-receipt support on its product pages as of October 2026. Read our e-receipt and POS guide first.
  • Distributor or wholesaler: you need inventory, purchasing and B2B e-invoices. Daftra, Edara (Ultimate), Odoo and Dopave all cover this; compare stock features and e-invoice workflow in a trial.
  • Services firm: invoicing, expenses, projects and payroll matter most. Wafeq, Zoho Books (if you do not need ETA submission yet) and Dopave (projects and helpdesk modules) fit.
  • Small factory: look at bills of materials and production costing. Odoo has the deepest manufacturing; Edara Ultimate, Daftra and Dopave (Manufacturing add-on at 890 EGP per month) are lighter options.

Can you use free accounting software in Egypt?

Yes, within limits. The genuinely free options are Dopave's Free plan (up to 3 users, with Accounting as a paid add-on), Odoo One App Free (one app, unlimited users), Zoho Books Free (under US$50,000 revenue, no ETA support listed) and self-hosted ERPNext. Watch the hidden costs:

  • E-invoicing still costs money. You need a signing certificate or USB token, as Daftra and Odoo both note, and items coded to ETA standards.
  • Hosting and setup. Free licences such as ERPNext still need a server and someone to maintain it.
  • Support. Free plans usually get community or email support only.

If you are VAT-registered and must issue e-invoices, a free plan is a starting point, not the whole answer. See Dopave pricing or the Egypt ERP overview for a modular route.

Bottom line

Shortlist two or three options by business type, then run the same test in each trial: issue an invoice, submit it to the ETA preproduction environment, and print the report your accountant needs. The product that does that cleanly in Arabic, at a price you can sustain, is the best one for you.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best accounting software in Egypt?

It depends on your business type. Trading and distribution companies usually need inventory and ETA e-invoicing, which Daftra, Odoo, Edara and Dopave cover. Service firms often prefer Wafeq or Zoho Books. Retailers must first check ETA e-receipt support. Test two or three options in a free trial before deciding.

Is there free accounting software in Egypt?

Yes. Dopave has a free plan for up to 3 users (Accounting is a paid add-on), Odoo offers One App Free, Zoho Books is free under US$50,000 revenue, and ERPNext is free to self-host. E-invoicing still needs a signing certificate, item coding and support, which add cost.

Which accounting software supports the Egyptian e-invoice?

As stated on vendor pages in October 2026: Daftra says it is integrated with the ETA system, Odoo's Egypt localization states ETA compliance, Edara lists Egypt e-invoice integration in its Ultimate plan, and Dopave builds ETA-format invoices and submits them through the integrator you connect. Ask each for a live demo.

Does any accounting software issue ETA e-receipts?

None of the seven options in this guide lists ETA e-receipt support on its public product pages as of October 2026, and Dopave states it is not yet supported. The e-receipt is a separate system that requires registering POS devices, so ask vendors for a live demonstration before buying.

How much does accounting software cost in Egypt?

Published prices start at 733 EGP a month for Daftra Basic, 966 EGP for Wafeq Starter and 790 EGP for Dopave's Accounting add-on on a free base plan. Odoo, Zoho Books, Edara and ERPNext publish USD prices. Yearly billing is cheaper with most vendors. Prices checked October 2026.

Do I need sales or POS software as well as accounting software?

If you sell to consumers, yes. Many Egyptian shops need sales and POS features linked to inventory and accounts. Daftra, Odoo, Dopave and Edara (as a paid add-on) include POS. Check whether your business is obligated to issue ETA e-receipts before choosing.
